April 30, Tuesday, Sketching at Buko-zan Mountain

I went  to do sketching with my students.
We met at Honkawagoe station at 8:30am, took Seibu Shinjyuku line and Ikebukuro line to Yokose.
We arrived at Yokose at 10:15am, then took about 15 minutes walk up to Terasaka Tanada.

The mointain's name is Buko-zan.
It is a limestone mountain, so Chichibu cement company has been mining limestone.
You can see their factory in the photo and top of mountain shape has been changed.

FYI, Tanada means terraced rice-field. The terrace rice-field is a kind of ancient way of faming rice-field in mountain area.
Those are signs of Terasaka Tanada in the Kamakura period, 1185-1333.
It is a good Eco-system.

April 11, Thursday, Chinatown in the evening

We had dinner at a down-home Chinese restaurant, Kaiinkaku
I felt as if we were in a restaurant in down town Hong Kong.

We took a walk a little while after dinner.
The temples were decorated with light beautifully.

My friend took me to Yokohama station about 9 PM.
I took 9:07PM train, Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin  Line to Kawagoe.
I arrived in Kawagoe 10:20PM.

April 11, Yokohama Chinatown

We had late dinner at Chinatown.
Not much tourist in there, but stores and restaurant were still open.
It was very different from Chinatown I knew in Portland.

April 11, Thursday, Yokohama Waterfront

We arrived at Yokohama after sunset.
The Yokohama waterfront was quiet.
My friend lives near Yokohama, so she was a perfect Yokohama-tour guid.

This is a very unique pedestrian pass. It's a circle.

April 11, Thursday, Chiba to Kanagawa, Tokyo Bay Aqua Line

From Chiba to Kanagawa we took Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line.
""The Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, Alamo known as the Trans-Tokyo Bay Highway, is a bridge-tunnel combination across Tokyo Bay in Japan....more on Wikipedia....

April 11, Thursday, Isumi watercolor gallery in Ohara, Chiba

After my students' show I have a time for myself.
I have a friend whose mother was a great watercolor painter.
She passed away several years ago, and her daughter, my friend donated some of her mother's paintings for Isumi watercolor gallery in Chiba.

I asked my friend to see her mother's original works.
She took me to the Isumi watercolor gallery.
Actually, we met at Ohara station on Chiba.
It's a little station as you see the photo.

Her mother' works are very spiritual.
