March I, Friday Morning, Cloudy 11℃/50℉

Happy March 1!
It is cloudy today, going to be rain and windy this afternoon.

I took those photos yesterday.
My birds, Pea & Qi were happily singing by the sunny window.
My hyacinths are blooming.
They give me a sweet fragrant of early spring.

Thursday midnight, February 28, Fair skies and beautiful moon,11℃/51℉

Time goes so fast.
It was the last day of February.
This afternoon on my way to my class I stopped by Monzoan, a Japanese confectionery store . As you can see the photo it looked like an old Japanese house. I got Kusamochi which is according to web dictionary rice-flour dumplings mixed with mugwort with Anko, red bean jam, fillings.
It is a kind of test of early spring. There is a sign in the store Fedruary 28 is the day of kusamochi.
This is new to me. We, Japanese like to eat seasonable food. Sometimes those food have make a sense for our body. New mugwort sprout in spring are nutritious.

I had three senior students. They enjoyed afternoon green tea and Kusamochi after my painting class.

Wednesday evening, February 27, Cloudy, 10℃/50℉

Today, I made own salve.

The ingredients of my salve are Shea butter, almond oil, bee wax and tea tree and lavender essential oil.

One of my student gave me a little container of Shea butter salve a few week ago.
The essential oil she used were geranium. When I went to bed I put it on my hands.
It was very relaxing fragrant. I wake up next morning, I was surprised my hands got very smooth.
Then, I started using it on my face.

That encouraged me to make own salve.
By the way, I ordered all ingredient Amazon.com. They have almost everything, and they deliver in one day!

Wednesday afternoon, February 27, Cloudy, 10℃/40℉

This is my lunch, not a traditional way of eating mochi.
I rapped mochi and avocado with nori(sea veggie).

I have this with a bowl of hot veggie soup.
Mochi and nori with soy sauce is traditional, but not with sliced avocado.
Avocado is slippery with toasted mochi and nori, so eat it with just a few big bite.

Wednesday Morning, February 27, Cloudy, 10℃/50℉

It is cold today, but I feel spring is coming very soon.

I am trying to save electricity since the Great East Japan Earthquake.
Of course I am saving money.
I am layered-clothing !

I have recreated my blog all in English.
It will easy for you to understand my blog when you wanted put your comment.

These photos are from my previous blog.

There are sign by Honkawagoe Station.
Those showed the distance from Kawagoe to sister cities.
The one is Salem, Oregon, the US, and the other is Obama city in Japan.
Obama city is proud of the same name of the US president.

We often have very sunny day in winter, and we can see beautiful snow covered Mt. Fuji.

In Japan most restaurants show us their menu and samples to us.
I wish if American restaurants have their menu samples.
